November Interviews:
Focus on Bio-Nutrients and Neural Performance
Potent Performance Enhancers: Spagyric Bio-Nutrients
November 2024 - Date TBA
Guests: Hugh Quennec and Dennis Wiseman
What do an elite Swiss sports entrepreneur have in common with an Alchemist? The answer would be spagyrics! The term spagyrics is an ancient term from alchemy that means to separate and recombine ingredients to achieve its ultimate potency. Hugh Quennec and Dennis Wiseman have launched a modern day company to deliver this kind of herbal medicine that supports mind and body health in an holistic manner. Improved mental, physical performance are crucial for both dementia caregivers and those living with dementia that they serve. Hugh brings a top level expertise holistic huiman preformance and Dennis will speak to the fascinating biochemistry involved in creating this not-so-modern miracle of spagyrics.
WHAT IS SPAGYRICS?
Re-ignited in Europe by Paracelsus, an early 16th-century
physician and father of modern toxicology, a new branch
of Alchemy sprouted up through what he titled Spagyrics.
Spagyrics draws from the framework and practices of both
laboratory and philosophical Alchemy. It forged a
methodology of holistic medicine-making based upon a
concept known as the Tria Prima; Salt, Sulphur, and Mercury.
Otherwise known as the Body, Soul, and Spirit, these are the
three “primes” of all things in the manifest world. The title Spagyric, is derived from the ancient Greek words spao (to draw out) and agerio (to gather).
The word highlights the basic techniques underlying the many forms of Spagyric medicines.
Ancient / Modern Perspective. Tethered by an alchemical and insatiably inquisitive anchor, this initiative seeks to unite not only Spagyria with a clinical practice of natural medicine, but also to our modern paradigm, to the sciences and to the arts. Weaving a personal and artistic journey alongside private clinical herbalism, education and research, Secret Fire Apothecary aims to contribute to the raising up of people and planet through inspiration and direct experience of Nature through the lens of Alchemy.
Hugh Quennec, President of Helvetia Performance
Hugh is Swiss, Canadian and French, born and raised in Canada and living in Switzerland since 1994. He has extensive experience in the worlds of business, finance, professional sports and human performance. Hugh has personally experienced the positive effects of a holistic, natural approach to living life, and has seen it applied by people to become the very best performers in the world. Out of that ethos, Hugh formed Helvetia Performance, a Swiss-based company providing spagyric, herbal-based supplements, derived from the very old—and often hidden—art of Alchemy. Working with his partners, Hugh is bringing this ancient art to the fore, while blending it with the latest and best in bio-science and natural herbs. Helvetia supplements offer neural support, increased stamina, sharpened immune response and better sleep--to name just a few.
Dennis Wiseman, Founder Secret Fire Apothecary
Founder of Secret Fire Apothecary and a registered clinical herbalist, Daniel has walked a path of natural medicine since his youth. His studies span multiple systems of holistic healthcare such as Ayurveda, traditional Chinese medicine, Western herbal medicine and Spagyria. Eclectic in his clinical practice, he combines modern and traditional systems of natural medicine within an alchemical architecture. Daniel is on the board of directors and is a professional member of the Herbalist Association of Nova Scotia and on the board of directors of the Canadian Council of Herbalist Associations. He is also a member of the International Alchemy Guild, a faculty member of the Spagyricus School of Alchemy and a member of the Inner Garden Foundation.

Feeding Your Mitochondria at the Amino Acid Level
Guest: Dr. Hazel Szeto, Holder of 60 Amino Acid Patents
What does a world-class bio-chemist to after she's already secure 60 patents for proprietary amino acid combinations? Good question! Dr. Hazel Szeto used her phenomenal gift for working with amino acids to create a patented bio-nutrient called Rezilient--and for good reason. Her new compound delivers a phenomenal boost to the actual mitochondria ("the power house of the cell") to generate health and vitality at its very biological essence. Then she paired it with a brilliant array of B-complex vitamins to boost neuro transmitters in the brain. The result? Perhaps the closest thing science knows of to slow the aging process.
Dr. Szeto: Unravels The Effect of Mitochondria on Aging
As we grow old, cells in our bodies accumulate different types of damage and
have increased inflammation, factors which are thought to contribute to the aging
process. Dr. Hazel Szeto is a world leading bioscientist, who focuses on promoting
mitochondrialgrowth and vitality through advanced and holistic bio-nutrients.
Dr. Hazel Szeto
Hazel Szeto, M.D., Ph.D. '77, professor of pharmacology at Weill Cornell Medical College (WCMC), was studying opioid receptors in the brain when her moment of serendipity struck years ago. Now, following a path that began with one curious result, her research has branched out in directions she never would have predicted -- and it could lead to a new class of drugs to treat conditions ranging from heart attacks and strokes, to diabetes and neuro-degenerative diseases. Szeto's research centers on mitochondria, the organelle in every cell that produces energy in the form of ATP. Mitochondrial damage can cause a cascade of cellular reactions and ultimately lead to cell death by apoptosis or necrosis. Mitochondrial oxidative stress is thought to be the underlying cause of aging.
